Cobb County Government offers employees Short Term Disability as a Supplemental, voluntary benefits. Explaination
Guaranteed Issue – Active Full Time Employees can elect up to $5,000/ month, not to exceed 60% of earnings.
Simplified Issue for monthly benefit amounts above the guaranteed issue amount. If you would like additional coverage beyond the guaranteed-issue amount, you may apply for additional coverage with simplified underwriting (subject to income requirements), not to exceed $6,000/month benefit.
Income protection – Provides income protection for Sickness or Accident when you can’t perform the duties of your job.
PRE-EXISTING LIMITATION
Policies include a 12/12 pre-existing limitation.
Disabilities caused by a pre-existing condition or re-injuries to a pre-existing condition will not be covered unless it begins 12 months after the effective date of coverage. A pre-existing condition is an illness, disease, infection, disorder, or injury for which within the 12 month period before the Effective Date of coverage, medical advice, consultation or treatment was recommended or received or for which symptoms existed that would ordinarily cause a prudent person to seek diagnosis, care or treatment.

COVERAGE AND BENEFIT PERIOD
Elect a benefit up to 60% of your pre-disability earnings
Benefit period – Six (6) month benefit duration
Maternity Benefits – included as an illness- 6 weeks or 8 weeks caesarian
