The Dental Insurance plan is insured and administered by Delta Dental. The rates are increasing slightly. The first increase in three (3) years.
With the Delta Dental plan all claims paid to non-network dentists will be paid based on usual, customary and reasonable charges (UCR), using the 90th percentile. This means that claims are paid based on charges that over 90% of the dentist in this area will accept. If you elect to use an in-network dentist, your out-of-pocket costs may be less. A listing of in-network dentists can be located on the internet at www.deltadental.com. You can choose either a PPO or Premier Dentist; both have negotiated discounts with Delta Dental. The plan pays 100% of preventative services, 80% of basic services and 50% of major services, based on the 90th percentile of UCR.
Keep in mind that dental premiums are eligible for the Cafeteria Plan and are deducted on a pre-tax basis, which saves you approximately 25% to 30%, by reducing your income tax and FICA withholdings.
